Musical Anthology Of His Dark Materials, The - Lorne Balfe
| A good Balfe! |
This concept album for the TV show His Dark Materials is just brilliant. I love this melody/theme side of Balfe. Those are IMHO better than his scores for action movies. My favorite track is by far "The Strength of Gyptians," but "His Dark Materials," The Alethiometer" and "The Life of Roger Parslow" are amazing as well.

Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise Of Skywalker - John Williams
| A fantastic conclusion by John Williams |
I did not like the movie that much (so shoot me! ;-) ) I did like the music written by Maestro Williams. His new theme "The Rise of Skywalker" is just perfect and all the music in this movie is a perfect showcase of telling a story using music!
For all my thoughts, you can read it in my review:

Princess Mononoke: Symphonic Suite - Joe Hisaishi
| All time favorite |
This score is an absolute treasure. I am moved emotionally within the first minute. Each suite is very well thoughtout and a pleasure to listen to.

Journey - Austin Wintory
| One of my personal favorite video game scores |
I think this score (and the game) is a real gem. The main theme, which can be heard in "Nascence", is gorgeous, but the true gem is "Apotheosis".
You can read it in full detail in my review: Journey by Austin Wintory - Soundtrack World

Cold Pursuit - George Fenton, George Fenton & Dan Carey
| First track is amazing, the rest is meh |
As I said in the title, the score is not that interesting to listen too. It is an elegant score and does not use a full orchestra, and only the first track "Snow Plough" is worth requesting.
It is not a bad soundtrack. It serves the movie well, just not that interesting on its own.

Pinar Toprak has written an beautiful score for this new super hero. It is definitely worth a good listen. You can start with the main theme.

Bumblebee - Dario Marianelli
| The music serves the movie very well, stand-alone a bit 'meh' |
In case you were wondering, the movie and the music is very different than the other Transformer movies and the music for this one is pretty well written for this film. With that said, with the exception of the theme in 'Charlie', the music is not interesting to listen to without the images on the screen.
The highlights are the tracks with the Charlie theme:
- Charlie
- Charlie Sneaks Out
- Saying Goodbye

Ant-Man And The Wasp - Christophe Beck
| An amazing succesor of an already fantastic score |
Christope Beck has done it again IMHO. It is a great successor of the score for the first Ant-Man movie. While staying true to the music for the first movie, he also introduced an amazing new theme for The Wasp.
My favourites are:
- It Ain’t Over Till the Wasp Lady Stings
- Prologue
- Ava’s Story
- Wings & Blasters
- Revivification
- Anthropodie

Alita: Battle Angel - Tom Holkenborg
| It has potential |
This score shows some potential for Tom Holkenborg. It is not his best, but definitely not his worst. He has put quite some thought in presenting the music and the themes.
My favourite tracks are:
- I Don’t Even Know My Own Name
- Double Identity
- Raising the Sword
