John Williams is known for his bombastic and impulsive works like Star Wars or Indiana Jones. But with the Score for Hook he mixes these stylistics with easily coherent, catchy melodies that make you think you’re floating through Neverland as you’re listening.
Every track is a new surprise – be it the heroic "Prologue", the playful “Flight to Neverland”, the fanciful “Banquet”, the triumphant “Presenting the Hook” with his wind instrumentation or the heartwarming song “When you’re alone” with all his feeling.
The music comes like a wave, never ending and becoming more forceful and warm with every track, giving that feeling of familiarity …
I admit, some passages remind of “Home alone”, "Harry Potter" and even “Star Wars”, but that doesn’t interfere, there are so many unique melodies that John Williams orchestrated masterfully.
Just listen to this beautiful score and let yourself be enchanted!
