|
|
On others 24seven.FM radio stations, everyone of them list the artist or band name in the queue list page.
Why is this feature doesn't appears also on SST queue page, and there's a chance that this could be implemented in the future? |

It is forbidden in the RIAA rules.
But you can cheat by writing the name of the composer in the message box _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |

| This question keeps on coming up. Is the answer posted somewhere prominent, like in a FAQ? I know that doesn't mean people will stop asking, but it might get them the answer sooner. |

So only SST has to follow those rules? I have often wondered this as well and I have never received a straight answer from someone about it. Maybe the other stations are like Lando's mining operation in SW5, small enough to not be noticed? Though DFM is arguably just as large as SST... _________________ The right song can turn an emperor into a laughing stock, can bring down dynasties. | If it's forbidden by RIAA then that means the other stations are violating this rule, since they list the composer name? |

Maybe composer ≠ artist?
I mean, technically, the artists here are the people performing the work, or the conductor or something. But that's not what we mean.
Long story short, I have no good answer and should just be quiet, but I've already hit submit. |

Yes but the point is that SST, designates all persons involved in the music (be it a single composer, various composers, a singer or a music band) as "Artists".
And that is this same conception that prevails on the others radio stations, in which anyone is, by definition, an "Artist" too.
With this definition of artist as reference, and considering that it is forbidden by RIIA, wouldn't the radio station sites that list the artist name in the queue page, violating this RIAA rule?
If not so, then why SST is the exception for not showing the names in the queue page, knowing that "Artist" is by definition the same on SST, Adagio.FM, 1980s.FM, and so on? |

And, finally, you can have now the artists in the queue. _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |

Nice that this could be implemented.
Because I'm just curious, have the RIAA rules changed? Well, obviously, I guess, since this feature is now possible but I'd like to know a bit more. So would anyone in the know care to enlighten the rest of us...? |

No, RIAA rules have not been changed. For years we have artist name on the other stations.
So we decided to make it all the same.
When we are told to remove the artist names, we will do that. _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

| Hmmm, really...? Ok, I guess I just didn't notice that on adagio.fm where I sometimes also hang around. But yeah why not, if RIAA watch dogs don't bother you so why not just ignore the rules which don't make much sense to begin with... |

I believe those rules were based upon the Live365 ones, which were themselves interpreted from the DMCA. Rules are not clearly stated and open to interpretation, and were a bit "over-implemented" to be on the safe side. This was ages ago...
Hope it clarifies a bit _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

I login today and whoa! composer names added to the queue
Really nice work, and easily distinguishable to read in relation to the track name and album names.
Also that new feature on top showing the stations is very handy to navigate through all sites.
Great job guys. Kudos for you all! |
