How about 1977? That's when the first Starwars film came out. Most of the people on this board were born by then and will have seen the good films made since then, even if they're not a movie buff. |

Camille Saint-Saëns was commissioned to write what is believed to be the first film score tailored for a specific film in 1908 (L'Assassinat du duc de Guise). Music wasnt even recorded on the film until the mid-1920s (The Jazz Singer was released in 1927). _________________ Who is General Failure and why is he reading my disk? |

In my opinion,to poll back 20 or 30 yrs are enough. It'll be more fair to vote something that we all familiar with!coz if you need me to nominate some ST in 50' or 60',I only can name few of them!on the other hand,we can poll for the best for every decade pre-50' or 60' if we want to go that far! |

You might need to start combining years a bit sooner. Not sure there's enough soundtracks on this site to fill the poll's 8-10 slots per year from the 70's, even early 80's. Plus it could take forever to get through 30+ separate polls. How about every year for 1990-2001, then combine two years at a time between 1970 and 1989, then every decade 1960's and prior? Just an idea. |

1970 sounds all right. Even the 'young uns' have heard the themes for old films like Jaws or Rocky Horror (1975) to name two. _________________ My reality cheque bounced |

I agree w/ Cocles, Start w/ the Star Wars and as much as much as I like Alfred Hitchcock scores...that's too far to go back and be reasonable at the moment.
