It's been about two years since I last came up with an idea for more work someone else could do. So here goes.

There are a lot of great books out there written about film scores and scoring, and I think our listeners might be interested in them. In a perfect world, we could have links to free e-versions of, say, Torn Music: Rejected Film Scores, a Selected History.

It's not a perfect world, but I think we can come close. Could we perhaps create a database of such books, similar to the database we have for soundtracks? Each book could get a page with author, title, links to Amazon (and GoogleBooks, for samples and library info) and maybe member-written reviews. I know we have a sort of database for DVDs with score features. Maybe this would be similar.

LOL

I think it's a great idea! I have had thoughts along these lines as well – when I go window-shopping for OSTs at Amazon, I frequently get "soundtrack books" in the related links, not just CDs. And I agree, for a book db the entries could also be formatted similar to the albums here, so that the pages display shopping links back to Amazon (or wherever) and SST could get a little commission revenue on soundtrack-related print material, as it does already with music.
