I'll admit up front that I just thought of this, and haven't really thought it through too much yet:
Would it be difficult to add another column in the Queue that showed time until the track plays? I'm not sure what to show in the Played section though.
Would others appreciate that feature?

You mean at what time of the day the track will play? Like Rolltide at 1:34 P.M?
I think that would be pushing the DMCA a little too far. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

No, time until it plays. Basically add up the time playing time of all the tracks in the queue before it. The viewer will have to add the time left in the current track unless you guys come up with something fancy (which wouldn't surprise me at all).

As in adding up the total play times of the individual tracks above the one you're watching, and adding that total to the current system time? |

Yeah... like Jeric said... that's still pushing the DMCA a little too far. |

I just usually look at the queue length when I put my request in and then i know how long, since you just put your song in, it will be played in however many minutes the queue is long. Then I look at the clock and i know when it will be there. _________________ 'He looked at her, and being a man whom pity deeply stirred, it seemed to him that her loveliness amid her grief would pierce his heart.' —Faramir's thoughts on Éowyn |

Understood about the DMCA. Like I said, I hadn't thought it through too much. Thur: That works for your own track, but what prompted the idea was a track that someone else already had in the queue. I was too lazy to do the math to figure out how long until it played.
Looks like this idea's dead. Thanks for the input.

I might be wrong, but didn't SST have that feature when they added the new information at the top of the bar? I guess it was pushing the DMCA a little too far. I enjoyed it while it lasted. And now, I'm just enjoying the awesome site and music!!! _________________ "Get it?...Got it!...GOOD!" -- The Court Jester |

Maybe your thinking on the "Time until you can request again" timer. |

Ok, call me stupid if you must, but I've read the DMCA (assuming you mean the Digital Millenium Copyright Act), and I'm not exactly sure why a clock to a track would be in contravention... Granted, I'm not a lawyer, and only read these types of documents for fun or interest... |

A lot of people don't understand the reasoning behind a lot of the DMCA rules. And there are many who are trying to get rid of it.
"You should not publish advance program guides or use other means to pre-announce when particular sound recordings will be played."
As you can see just having a queue is already cutting it close. Implementing an ETA like feature would get us even closer to being out of compliance, which of course is not the direction we want to go. Protecting this site is more important then spending valuable time to implement a feature that is virtually useless for most people and would not benefit SST at all. _________________ "Are you not entertained? SST comes first m8. j2 at least you posted an idea to try and help. _________________ If you have it you don't need it. If you need it you don't have it. You need it to get it and you certainly need it to get more of it. Which means you don't have it to begin with people just know. |
