It's time for our own little tribute to The Match Game, a game show first made popular in the 1970s.

For those who are unfamiliar with the game, here is how it works.

Two contestants will be competing against each other to see who is better at matching the panelists' answers. For each round, each contestant is given a story scenario, but there is a blank space included in each scenario. The contestant must supply the missing word(s). There are no right or wrong answers for the missing word(s), but the only way points can scored is by matching a panelist's response, who is also trying to fill in the same blank space. All answers will be submitted via PM until they are ready to be revealed for scoring.

After three rounds, the contestant with the most matches wins the game and gets to move on to the bonus round and the chance for some extra bragging rights.

To start things off, we need two contestants and six panelists. If you wish to play, please post here and declare what role you wish to volunteer for. The first eight members that volunteer will get to play the first game. Spectators are welcome, but please do not shout out any of your own answers until after scoring is completed.

I'm OK to play. I'm just not sure to have understand the rules.
I suppose the 6 panelists consults themselves to bring only one answer?
Can you give an exemple of the kind of words which are missing? (A whole sentence? Are we supposed to find an end? Or a twist?)

Here's a sample question taken from an actual Match Game episode.

On the airplane, Stephanie said to Jessica, "I don't have much confidence in this airline. I just saw the pilot and he had a ______ sticking out of his pocket."

The contestant and all six panelists submit their own response (via PM to the host) for the missing word.

Let's say the contestant chooses "Parachute" as his/her answer. If two of the six panelists also chose "Parachute", the contestant is awarded two points. One for each match.

I can hear the old announcer Gene Rayburn talking as you gave the rules!

I will be panel for sure!

Would not miss a show!!

Give an example round perhaps and see how this plays out.

Hold on there, Cinder. I love your enthusiasm, but we are not quite ready yet. The game still needs one more contestant and one more panelist.

Those who are already signed up can help by sending messages to other forum posters or chatters and inviting them in. We're almost there!
