Yep, another Pesa addition!
The "wait time" to request new tracks tracks has been decreased, and the "wait time" for the rest of the tracks has been increased. This feature should provide greater variety of tracks to be played while giving the new tracks time to be heard.
A track is considered new for 21 days. During the first 21 days it can be requested more, after that it has a longer wait. See below for details:
SST, DFM
New Tracks = 4 day request wait
Other Tracks = 15 day request wait
80S, AFM, EFM
New Tracks = 2 day request wait
Other Tracks = 8 day request wait
These wait times are subject to change based on listener experience and the number of tracks available in the playlist.
Thanks Pesa! I hope you all enjoy this, even those who never visited the site or forums! _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

This is a great addition, Jeric and Pesa, thank you both very much! I think this is absolutely fair enough - it will encourage people to play new music for a while and raise awareness of the new tracks that are available. We already do this in a fashion with the NUTs, i.e. bigging up those tracks that aren't played often - this seems a logical progression of sorts from that.
Great! |

Wow, you guys are really into it lately.
But 15 days... seems a little bit long! _________________ If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will,

I'm looking forward to hearing some of the new tracks more often but I'm a little apprehensive about having to wait over two weeks to hear a song I like. Super Smash Bros. Mario Grand Medley is one of my faves but it's USUALLY picked quite often. I hope I still get to hear it now and then. Overall though, I think this is a good decision for the benefit of our listeners and the variety we've got at SST. Forward ho!! _________________ I do not wake up with thoughts of control and rebellion, but thoughts of purpose and righteousness and the empowerment to fulfill those convictions that define me. |

Hrm. This is going to do interesting things to that section of the Top 100 lists that gives the top requested tracks in the past 30 days. Under the previous scheme, the most often a track could be requested was 4 times, so the list wasn't very interesting. But now, it stands to be dominated by new tracks, if they're liked enough.
I like the 15 day rule, personally. That's how I used to cycle my personal score collection, until I got enough music that I could switch to 30 days. But if it doesn't work, it can always be changed. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

Great addition! I know this idea has been batted around several times in various topics. Great to see it implemented! Even if we have to wait 15 days, I think it will help keep things interesting, and help SST sound less like the Top40 stations that have a 4-8 hr play list.
Thanks Pesa!

Nice addition gang! I think this is a very creative compromise, and may produce a more varied listening experience.

Nice feature!
I keep running into problems tonight 6/20/08 where a new track looks green and ready to request, but then it says the request failed because track recently played. |

This is excellent and I love the 15 days because as the SST library of music continues to grow it forces people to pick more variety and experience more of the playlist instead of choosing the same stuff all the time. _________________ "My Logic is Undeniable" - I, Robot |

Nice feature, although I'm sure that there will be complaints about the 15 day wait. I don't have a problem with that, but I would very carefully follow now what's been said e.g. in the chat. I have a suspicion that this 15 day rule could even have an unfortunate negative impact on VIP subscriptions, so you should really carefully monitor reactions now. |

I like the idea behind this, but I'm not a fan of the 15 day wait for other tracks. One of the things I enjoy most about SST is being able to request songs that I really like about once a week. Having to wait two weeks now seems like a bit much. |

I am not all that happy with it.
I was attracted to SST to hear my favorite music. That is now being seriously throttled. and not to put to fine a point on it a lot of the "nuts" are just crap. I do not and never will buy into the idea that all music is "good".
I am beginning to miss the "old days" of SST.
But you all will do what you do... my voice means very little. _________________ Try SCE to AUX! |
