Please report any duplicate tracks here.
A lot of times we get duplicate, identical tracks in the playlist due adding compilations to the playlist. Example: I have already removed all of the redundant tracks from the Varese Sarabande 25th Anniversary box sets. Also, I have chosen to keep the best quality Fox Fanfare from the 6 Star Wars soundtracks. Twopop will handle this from here on.
Tie breaker rules (deciding which to keep, which to remove):
1. Sound quality. We will have strong preference on this, that includes re-recordings of classics.
2. If the sound quality is the same we will keep the track on the original soundtrack and remove the one off the compilation recording(s) so it is easier to find.

What comes to my mind as a suggestion at the moment is:
- "Ave Maria Instrum." from Prowokator (1995)
and
- "Provocateur: Ave Maria" from Polish Film Music (2005)
It's the same composition used by M. Lorenc as part of Prowokator soundtrack
If my memory serves me right both cues have different performers and I'm not sure which has the better quality but of course the one on "Prowokator" is from original soundtrack and Polish Film Music CD is a compilation.
BTW: My little idea to consider is to put something like a link (or text info at least) in place of removed cue (in CD cue list at CD info page) to direct people who want to request this specific cue to the album where it can be found.
What I think of at the moment is that you can imagine that people who (for example) know Varese Sarabande 25th Anniversary box sets might be surprised by lack of some cues from this album at its cue list, when it is just removed without a bit of information at the CD info page. I can imagine some people reporting it to Twopop as an error 
If we had a short info (or link) in the line remaining after removed cue (saying where you can find removed track or at least saying something like: "removed as a duplicate track") - I think it could be quite useful and convenient for some SSTers (especially for those who are little less familiar with SST playlist).
Ideal situation would be in my opinion to leave removed track's title still visible (in darker colour or in grey etc.) with kind of "removed as duplicate" info popping up after hovering over the title of the removed track.
Just my two cents.
Of course this is not the most important issue and if your opinion is that every SSTer should be well aware of SST search engine presence - of course I will accept it.

I second that. I think it could get confusing otherwise.

Das Parfum has been replaced with Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer. I purchased Das Parfum then Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer was sent to me. I didn't know they were the same album. I have moved all of the ratings over from Das Parfum to Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer.

I'm focusing on the compilations right now.
Of the 2 tracks you mentioned, they're of equal quality and almost identical length. As you pointed out, one is instrumental, the other a soprano vocal, so both tracks will remain in the playlist.
I also checked out all the variations of Barber's Adagio and was happy to find no two were alike. So they stay as well. |

Two - that looks great. I know it may be a lot of work, but as I first started reading this my thoughts were that people are going to start posting to add this cue because it's missing.

Yup - very true.
To help with that I try to make a note and list the missing tracks in the Review section of the album. Check out the Varese Sarabande 25th Anniversary (I and II) to see examples.
I appreciate your bumping up this thread. Most people are very reluctant to report duplicate tracks - for obvious reasons.  |

The very fine Elmer Bernstein's FMC series has caused some redundancies. The redundant albums, I believe, are:
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
To Kill a Mockingbird
Torn Curtain (Unused)
Viva Zapata!
As far as redundant tracks go, that's a different story.
The FMC version of Mrs. Muir seems to me to be superior because of longer tracks, but I'm not sure about audio quality. I could be wrong, but I don't think any of the tracks are actually identical.
The Mockingbird track list is nearly identical on both albums, but the Varese version tracks are almost always slightly longer and it contains a few tracks not found on the FMC. Again, I don't know about the audio.
The FMC version of Torn Curtain seems to me to be superior because of longer tracks, whereas the other version breaks them up into shorter cues.
There doesn't seem to be too much correlation between the Zapata tracks, other than "conscience," but the FMC version of this is almost twice as long.
I'm not sure what you'll want to do with these, but at least you're now aware of them!

I've noticed that whenever one version of the Adagio gets played, people tend to request their favorite version. We heard it at least 3 times yesterday. |
