This topic came about because of a message Shelob put in for a request of his (hers?)...
If you were a film director, who would you choose to score your film and why?
in my case, it would probably be rolfe kent. I love his low key, sweet and funny style. I think of myself as a very sensitive person and he would just be perfect for the stories that I cook, if only in my head.
My other choice could be Rachel Portman, just because I feel so closely connected with her music and her life (and I just love any woman who's talented and proud of her Jewish heritage)
So... what about you?
(btw sorry if I started this thread in the wrong spot, I didnt know if it belonged here or in "soundtracks") |

Hmm, that's a really difficult question to answer, because it would depend a lot on the type of film, and the musical effect that I was trying to go for.
So even if I had a favourite composer (which I don't), I wouldn't necessarily use him or her all the time. I mean, look at Peter Jackson. He tried to use Howard Shore for King Kong and it just wasn't the right fit for what he was trying to achieve with the film. |

Well I am going to go after David Arnold eventually for my film! I really wanna hear a big score for him again.....plus he hasn't to my knowledge scored an animation yet!
Would be good! _________________ "As you no doubt have guessed, I am Morpheus" |

Hmm well first its not very likely I would ever do a movie - haha- but ok, lets say I would.. then it would probably be a romantic film with crying at end .. or..
it would be an actioncomedy with some romance too of course.. or..
a documentary about some interesting topic (NOT what would happen if I only would eat Mc Donlads hamburger for some time! lol)
anyway.. music..
hmm probably I wouldnt have money enough so I would have to hire a newbie that would have to thank me for becoming famous after movie has been seen of millions of peple and I have my oscar for best movie, haha _________________ ^i^ Come fly with me |

Ok then Morph, just send in a sample of the music to my big moviecompany... or well, I think I'm just too lazy to look for someone else, so u are hired!
hehe anyway, I think your music is way to good for a movie I would make, so lets say you do the movie too... maybe it could be a romantic cartoon movie with angels and whales.... _________________ ^i^ Come fly with me |

I'd pick me to do my music, too! In fact, I'm working on the soundtrack to a (cheap) half hour movie I just made. It's incredibly entertaining! |

I'd love to, although I'm not exactly sure how. Is there any easy way to do that? |

Talk to PeteC, Optimis. I'm pretty sure he's posted some of his works to the chat in the past.

I totally agree with Hurr. Not that I am a director, or even remotely connected with the film industry (yet), but there are two potential movies bouncing around in my head (usually when I'm supposed to be working.)
For one, I would lean toward John Debney. He is probably not even in my top five favorite composers, but he has done some very fascinating scores, elements of which would work well for the movie.
For movie #2, I would see if E.S. Posthumus were interested in scoring a feature film. Their Unearthed is exactly the kind of music that would go with the film.
So, I guess I should get working on the screenplays. Anyone know a good (and affordable) Ghost Writer?
