|
Hello, everyone! This is my very first post.
One album I would love to see added to the playlist is CutThroat Island.
One of the greatest scores of 1990s, and in film score history, goes yet undiscovered. SST has the original single disc version, but last year the complete score was released and has over an hour more of music to offer than the single disc. I hope this can be added so people can discover Debney's great talent that too often goes over looked.
Music Composer by John Debney
Conducted by David Snell
Performed by The London Symphony Orchestra and The London Voices
Here's a link to the album info, 4 SAMPLES, and purchasing info:
http://buysoundtrax.com/cutthroat_island-2CD.html
If buysoundtrax.com is too inconvenient, here's the link to Screen Archieves: http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm?ID=4246
Amazon sells it for twice as much as these stores.
MY REVIEW:
CutThroat Island stands as one of the best film works for its thematic material and sweeping orchestral cues. Debney employs every single instrument player in the orchestra for much of the music (Listen to MAIN TITLE on the playlist on SST).
Another reason the score's great is diversity in music. There's romance, heroics, suspense, dark choir, emotional cues, action, triumphant, etc. Its all there!
My best argument for why this should be included is for Debney's fame to become well known. THE PASSION was a great score, but CutThroat is larger and more epic. You have to hear the original album in its entirety to fully grasp what I'm explaining.
PM me for any questions about the score. I'll be happy to help out with a few cues
I hope this helps. -Andres |

Just curious - is this version more like an extended compaired to what we have, more like an un-cut type? I really enjoy Cutthroat and would love to hear more.
Forgive the edits - crazy spelling day _________________ "Diaper backward spells repaid. Think about it." ~ Marshall McLuhan

A great first post, kiddo! Nicely done!
I just commented on adding expanded versions in the thread about Omen III
The original is a great score and I love to hear complete versions - boy, there's so much more to hear on the expanded version of this!
I'd vote another yes! |

The thing is that it does contain all the tracks from the single disc with one difference: Track 8 from the second disc:
The Battle/To Dawg’s Ship*/Morgan Battes Dawg*/Dawg’s Demise-The Triumph (17:52)
As you can see, tracks 17 and 18 from the single disc were combined into a jumbo track - my favorite BTW.
Here's the tracklist:
Disc: 1
1. Main Title/Morgan's Ride (4:38)
2. The Rescue/Morgan Saves Harry (3:41)
3. Purcell Snatcher (2:58)+*(Composed by Brad Dechter)
4. Shaw is Caught (1:15)*
5. The Funeral (1:29)
6. Morgan in Command (2:51)*
7. The Language of Romance/Mr. Shaw (2:40)
8. A Lady Scorned (1:38)*
9. Carriage Chase (7:21)
10. Ainclee Plots/To Spittelfield (3:46)*
11. Uncle Mordechai (2:02)*
12. Morgan Captured/Sword Fight (5:23)
13. Escape from Mordechai's (2:09)
14. Setting Sail (1:03)
15. Charting the Course (2:19)
16. First Kiss/Love Scene/Dawg’s Plan* (3:12)
17. Shaw Discovers the Location (2:04)*
18. Betrayal (2:46)*
19. The Storm Begins (2:33)
20. To the Bottom of the Sea (2:43)
21. The Island (3:41)*
22. Shaw Steals the Map (3:30)
23. Discovery of The Cave (4:39)*
24. Discovery of the Treasure (2:19)
Disc: 2
1. Intermezzo-The Wedding Waltz (2:43)* arr. John Debney
2. Caught (1:37)*
3. The Rope (2:17)*
4. Morgan and Show Jump the Cliff/ The Big Jump (2:38)
5. Shaw Captured (2:32)*
6. Morgan Takes the Ship (4:30)
7. The Hangman’s Noose (3:56)*
8. The Battle/To Dawg’s Ship*/Morgan Battes Dawg*/Dawg’s Demise-The Triumph (17:52)
9. It’s Only Gold/End Credits (9:33)
10. Main Title/Morgan's Ride (Without Choir) (4:48)*
11. Carriage Chase (Alternate Version)*(7:21)
12. First Kiss (Album edit) (1:54)
13. Dawg's Demise/The Triumph (Without Choir) (3:31)*
14. Morgan’s Ride & The Rescue (original Synth Demo Version) (7:25) |

Are you sure this is a legit release and not a bootleg?
If it's legit, then I'm all in favor of it. Sounds awesome. _________________ "You have been chosen to represent Earth in Mortal Kombat. Be warned. Cutthroat Island is a popular score, so I think the extra tracks would be played pretty often. While I prefer SST adding more new releases, if it's a slow month, consider adding this. |

*BUMP* Not in the playlist yet and I think it definitely deserves to be added. As Kiddo said one of the better releases in the 1990s and would be great to have all the music from the movie!
Vote Yes for the complete Cutthroat Island to be added! _________________ "My Logic is Undeniable" - I, Robot |
