Following up on previous posts concerning James Horner and Hans Zimmer, I am looking for specific tracks (not just albums) that SST fans consider to be Jerry Goldsmith's absolutely best cues. If you were to compile a one-disc compilation of all his best tracks, what would it contain?

A couple of massive collections of his work have been printed, and a one-disc version, The Film Music of Jerry Goldsmith, is available. As usual, however, I am afraid this disc does not really properly represent the very best tracks of this fine composer. And most of the tracks are suites or medleys of many themes.

I am going to need a lot of help with this one, as I am not that familiar with Goldsmith's work, especially his earlier work. Here are some tracks I would definitely include:

1. Medicine Man: The Trees (I think)
2. First Knight: Promise Me, and/or:
3. First Knight: Arthur's Farewell

So, help me out, SST! What else should be included on a Jerry Goldsmith best-of collection?

Wow, thanks for the post, bp; that's quite a list. And you're right, I have heard many of those, but not all...

Now if you had to boil it down to fit on ONE DISC, what would you be left with? That's the hard part.

You're welcome, Luther!

May I suggest you make an MP3-CD, so you wouldn't have to lose any of those cues... Wink

By the way: Thanks for the fix, j2! Cool

Dang, Cal... that is a nice collection. I just might have to add that to my wishlist. Yay for Goldsmith!

Cool edition, yes.
Expensive, also.
But probably worth it's money...

Note that those are not original recordings. They are done by the Prague symphonic. But still pretty good. Anyways no computers involved.

I have the John Williams one too :-)
