I mentioned this once before, but the thread it locked, so I'll start a new one:
Can you set it up so that we can make an automatic monthly donation via PayPal?
From the thread before:
- PayPal does support this, I believe. It's something like "subscription" although this may have changed since I last looked.
- JERIC mentioned that this might not work with the donation meter. Personally, I'm OK with that. I don't need the credit (although it does help my credibility when I'm calling for donations in the queue message) and having the meter behind actual donations might encourage more donations(?).

As I made my (late) donation today, I was reminded about this idea. Any progress on this front?
Also, I was wondering how much a $1 donation really helped? I know that there is some overhead cost involved. Would we be better off giving $2/month or some other amount to maximize our donation? (Or maybe getting together in a group of 12 and having each of us donate $12 once a year in the place of the whole group?)

No progress on the automatic thing. Sorry, I will look into it again though.
SST only actually receives 2/3rds of a $1 donation but 90% of a $5 donation. If you give more, less frequently, then SST receives more in the long run.
Since the theory of $1 donated by 10,000 members ($6,666) would pay for SST for a long time doesn't work, I think the magic number is $5, as often as you want. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

Sounds good, JERIC. Now I just need A) Bigger budget, or B) 11 more members of the Buck Privates to cooperate with me so we'll all donate $12 once a year. Anybody?

I'm in! You'll have to remind me when it's time, though.

OK, now we need 10 more.
How shall we handle the rotation. Just in the order we joined:
j2: January
Chandler: Feb
Sound like a good idea?

I think I can automate the reminders. I'll need an email address to send to though. Hit me via PM or IM. Now we need to find 10 more people (9 more by Nov, so #11 can pay up for us). I'll try and spam some in the queue or maybe in the chat.

What about $10 or $25? Still at 90%? |
