There may be no need for that in the future if Internet Radio is accessible on most portable devices.

Yeah I heard the main competitors of Ipod are trying to come up with a similar Ipod + internet radio on it or something like that. They even think of doing this on your cell phones as well. Can you imagine listening to SST in your car while you're stuck in traffic...

Yes every day I imagine this. Our stations around here are horrible.

Wonder what it would cost to have internet radio? I mean my phone has internet access already, and it's astronomical. (But really cool when you're at the football stadium and need the scores to other games)

An internet connection integrated into your car?
It's coming.

Nationwide wireless internet coverage? That's a little bit further off. Right now it's $80 bucks a month, only "sort of" nationwide, and only available in broadband within a few select major cities.

A nationwide wireless internet capable of reliably streaming high quality internet radio stations directly into your car while you drive?
Right now hard enough just getting reliable streaming at your desk, and you want it in your car... while you're on the move? I'm sure our kids will love that feature. Even with our cellphones, high quality internet radio is still way off.

Ulitmately though, this all begs the question, "Why?"

Why on earth are all of you so intent on someday having streaming digital music in our cars when it is something that is already available for us living in the United States and Canada?

It's called Satellite radio and it's awesome. It's cheap, it's reliable, it has stations for every type of music you could think of, it's nationwide, and it sounds great. (Not wannabe "mp3 CD Quality" quality. We're talking CD in your CD player quality.)

I look forward to the day when Jeric gets his ass over to XM and starts running a station for them. Wink

I rented a car once that had Satellite radio. I was really excited about this. I was never able to make it work though... bummer.

Thanks Cocles for the offer. I appreciate.
I'll probably need your help next time I rent a car that present this feature.
