Hey graywolf, I like your new logo. It is more creative. Adds some character. |

I used to umpire baseball - high school, American Legion, Babe Ruth, even some semi-pro ball, everything but Little League because LL parents tend to be whacked out, insane people who still feel the pain of being picked last throughout their childhood so their own self esteem is vicariously tied to whether their kid is called out or safe.
Anyway, umpires have the nickname "Blue" from the powder blue shirts they wear (or used to wear for decades before the 90s when they started to wear red). So if you don't like my nickname and get in my face about it, you're outta here! |

[quote="zirael"]My nickname is a slight modification of "Lirael," a lovely teen fantasy by Garth Nix about a young librarian who discovers her magical powers to banish undead creatures back to the underworld.
It actually sounds like a feminist metaphor - banishing the old male dominated order as a backlash to the backlash against the 60s feminism. |

Wolf99, you are reading too much into a nickname! I just like the idea of having magic. |

You’re already familiar with a "2-pop" (or "sync pop"). It's the “boop” sound you hear at the end of a movie countdown leader on the 2-frame: “...5-4-3-2 pop".

Thuringwethil is from Tokien's The Silmarillion. It means "woman of the shadows" Gray felt it was appropriate given the nature of my change from my original name LOTRfan2004 _________________ 'He looked at her, and being a man whom pity deeply stirred, it seemed to him that her loveliness amid her grief would pierce his heart.' —Faramir's thoughts on Éowyn |

Oh. I figured it was something from Lord of the Rings, but I thought it was "the ring was here" pronounced with a lisp on top of a speach impediment. |

No surprise here. I was listening to Sparta at the time I registered and this being the very first and only website I read or write posts on combined with a lack of creativity, Spartan came to me in a flash of insperation. |

lmao Juan, I would've went with Jog, Run, I'm an Elf personally
Anywho, GrooveMerchant is the name of a Thad Jones jazz tune. A pretty awesome song, not to mention tough to play. _________________ "Don't you think that idea is a little half-baked?

My nick is a compilation of my favourite books, all by Daniel Quinn.
"Ishmael"
"The Story of B"
"Beyond Civilization"
I never had a real nickname, besides Bruce (for liking Bruce Willis) or Shaky (for liking Shakespeare), but they're not really up-to-date and/or too silly. _________________ "The world won't be changed by old minds with new programs, but by new minds with no programs at all."

schroddie was invented by my friends. They wanted to give me a nickname. Since I'm doing a PhD in Physics, they took "schrod" from Schrodinger who is famous in quantum physics, the "ie" part at the end, because I'm a girl.
I liked it because it kind of sounds like someone from another planet so I kept it. _________________ Always wondered what a French photo album could look like?

Generic Man from Teenagers From Outer Space (Steve Jackson Games)
Dragon from the Faire because I draw mostly dragons
I like them both so I combined them...
