As humans, we like attention when we do something that we think is great. I thought we could have a thread that people could use to exclaim their latest reasons to celebrate. Anything you like: Just selected to go to the International Space Station; just won the lottery; just got that new nail polish in that you've been looking for.... anything you like.

Since I obviously have the need to share my latest good news.... I'll start it off.

I'm in taekwondo, as some of you know, and I've been a little bummed because my latest tournament score wasn't showing up in the State Standings yet.
I figured that paperwork got crossed up somewhere.
I wasn't going to make a big deal out of it, but I did e-mail them once and they assured me it would be looked into. Yet, my standings still hadn't made it.

The standings are now all completed for the year, and I know that the points that I made at my last tournament should have put me in the standings, but even late this last Friday afternoon when I checked, I wasn't even on the board... for my division.

My division is Men, Colored Belt, 40 to 49.
On a whim, I started looking in the other divisions. I checked the 30 to 39 year old Men's division (that's a tough group too), and there I was!! In 4th place for State! In a tougher division than my own!

But my points in that division beat the top points in my own division, so if they move me to where I should be, I'll be 1st in State!!

Congrats.

People will probably just makes their own threads when they have something like this to share.

Tjoe, it's perfectly cool making this whole thread all about your little triumph. Wink

Well, I put an offer in on a house last week. The deal will be closing July 10, subject to having all the conditions removed from the contract. If all goes well, my wife and I will be house-owners at the end of July!!!

@Robert - Thanks, and Very Happy on the "dirty work". And, YEY on the house-owners part! That's only a few days away - exciting.

@Istagi - Thanks. I'm struggling with the flexability stuff too. These kids that I help to teach are so damn flexible - ughh.

I'm an uncle... 7lbs 19 inch long babey girl... 26 days early... I drove the distance to meet her for the first time.... The minute I was able to hold her, was the moment it hit me... I'm not a guy who crys but this little girl brought it out of me... She is only two days old, and she is amazing.

Just thought I would share.

This thread hit while I was on vacation, so I just now noticed it because of Legos post.

Congrats TJ. If I were "them" I'd look into whatever the #1 ranked guy in the state for taekwondo quickly. No need having him upset at me.

R_L: Hope all went well.

Lego: Nothing like the miracle of a new life brought into the world. If you're ever going to cry, that's the time to do it. My daughter gets me that way too.

Congrats Uncle Leggy! And, Cal, I don't drive at all yet, so your news does sound quite exciting to me!

I think some of you know my news but it's nice to be able to post it here anyway - my first child, a boy, is due on 27th October. With the long Summer break us teachers have, we are now doing all the preparation and shopping! Exciting times!

Edit - spelling mistake - apparently there are many!

I'd say you all have tremendous news to be proud of. New babies, new houses, new cars, new state martial arts rankings... congrats to all! And keep the good news rolling in!
