Not too many films were released last year but thought it would fun to gage opinions with what was released in 2020.

It was a tough call between Mando and Soul, but the vibe of Soul is just stunning.

Unfortunately, I have to wait for SST to get most of those in an update before I can judge. One quick listen with the film (and I haven't even done that yet) is seldom enough

It is hard to decide. Let's see what critics think about it. IFMCA will announce their winners on February 18, 2021.

Fingers crossed for Pemberton, Coulais and Coker Wink

For me this year it's absolutely Mandalorian. The vibe to it is amazing. Even the music for the dark troopers with more dubstep fit the scene perfectly, although dubstep in Star Wars sounds odd. This season in general was great, not only the soundtrack!

I don't agree with the statement that not many scores were released.
That is not true in fact but you'd had to look more thoroughly for it.
Most releases were in Asia and Europe predominantly for TV and games.

I'll try to add here my TOP15 that I publish every year which was compiled out of 400 scores I checked.

(But I guess that needs a medic as I forgot how to post pics here) Wink

I watched some behind the scenes stuff with Ludwig on the making of the Mando music and soundscape. He is one interesting dude.

The recorders he got to make the main atmosphere of the music are VERY cool instruments.

Tenet was pretty ok, but sometimes Hans Zimmer is sticking a little bit too much to his style that doesn't change much. You know it's him, but not always what movie it was for (besides Inception, Gladiator or Pirates). For this poll I'll have to go with Mandalorian. Something refreshing and interesting, finally! Especially when you compare it to the Skywalker Saga.

Welcome to the forums JamesScarborough1952!

I can totally understand one can be tired of Zimmer's style from time to time Very Happy We need him to collaborate with others on his scores as much as possible. It always worked well for him when he had co-composers (I don't mean just ghostwriters) at his side.
