ExoMars rover (…) Rosalind Franklin faces an uncertain future as ripples from Russia's invasion of Ukraine affect the space program.
There are currently two NASA rovers and one Chinese rover operating on Mars. The European Space Agency's ExoMars Rosalind Franklin rover is slated to launch later this year and join them on the Red Planet in 2023.
On Monday, ESA said the launch in 2022 was "too strong." Very unlikely.” After the Russian invasion of Ukraine The rover is a joint project between ESA and Russian space agency Roscosmos. It is scheduled to launch in September
with a Russian-made Proton-M rocket from Kazakhstan. "Regarding the continuity of the ExoMars program, the sanctions and the broader context make a 2022 launch highly unlikely," the ESA said in a statement.
