CD shelves or how do you store your CD collection ?

I know I'm going ot take some flak for this (pun intended), but I don'( store my CDs. I rip them, then either give them away to the handful of my friends who still actually use CDs, or throw them away. I just don't see the value in keeping hundreds of shiny plastic discs with tiny cover art.

Once ripped, I store uncompressed master copies of each one on multiple redundant systems.

My vinyl collection (5 000+ 12" from my DJ days), on the other hand, is stored in classic DJ manner: original Ikea Expedit book cases, stored in a temperature and humidity controlled room.

Why would you throw them away, though? Please give them to a thrift store instead. The ones in my vicinity have very little offer of soundtracks.
PS: Besides that what you're doing is illegal, but you probably know that.

One way to keep them clean is to invest in some nice, enclosed shelves or cabinets with glass doors.
