Doing it the right way, sorry, I missed the guildlines post. Sad

I am a huge role-playing games fan! I love playing them on the computer or around the table with friends. My favorite games though is the ones the DM using music to play during the game, it adds so much to the mood.

I thought maybe it can be like a theme day for music-inspired games or video games' music? Or there is something like that? if there is let me know thank you.

Great idea!

As you can see in that old thread the idea even had pretty good support. Personally I'm also all for having such Theme Day (and I'm not a gamer!).

The only problem is probably to find good date for it. Any ideas?

I'm quite sure we can have Video Games Theme Day as soon as we find a date for it.

Good idea. There is National (US) Video Games Day on September 12th, https://nationaldaycalendar.com/national-video-games-day-september-12/ so it could be Video Games Theme Day at SST as well but ... we celebrate Hans Zimmer's birthday on the same day. Considering the other historical facts from the link:

November 29, 1972 Atari announces Pong, the first commercially successful video game
October 15, 1971 Computer Space debuted at the MOA show
October 16, 1972 Magnavox Odyssey appeared on the game show What's My Line?
October 18, 1958 Tennis for Two, a sports video game designed for display at the Brookhaven National Laboratory's annual public exhibition

I would prefer November 29, no coincidence with other events in SST calendar Smile

I'll just point out that the end of November is always going to be close to U.S. Thanksgiving weekend, when a lot of people are away visiting family and/or holiday shopping. So if you schedule it for then, it probably won't get as much attention or participation as it could.

I was going to suggest the day Charles Babbage announced his "difference engine" but that was June 14 1822 and June 14 is already celebrating Flag Day at SST. I'd also like a date in May just because there are no theme days in May as yet but I can't find anything relevant to link it too.

So I vote for Nov 29th as well. While it is often US Thanksgiving weekend, it isn't actually Thanksgiving Day (at least for the next 50 years ) and enough of SST is non-US that I think it'll still be supported.

well, I love all the dates you suggested and they not occupied already. I am also non-US, but maybe middle of October is even better to get everyone involved.
I think for now Novemeber 29th is the good one so far, however I gonna think of some other dates later. Wink
