Hey, so I was wondering, since we just had our 16th anniversary, don't you think it is time to update some of the ads that we use? One that sticks out in particular is the "10 years long, 10 years strong" one. I don't know why it bothers me so much that it's outdated, but it does. _________________ “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

Thank you Morg!
I agree it's outdated and should have been removed long ago.
Passed that info to our Admins too. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

I agree on the updating. I personally don't care much for the voice of Mr. Straub. Maybe it's an idea to have actual composers record a message. After all, it's their music we love to listen to. _________________ "Speak for yourself, Sir. I plan to live forever." Cmdr William T. Riker - ST:Generations |

I have to say that I agree with this. I have been hearing some of these spots for longer than I care to think about. Not all have to be changed but there are a few that do need to be retired. Please and thank you. _________________ A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day. - Calvin and Hobbes - |

in addition to updating the ads: it might be a good idea to have one that asks listeners to donate to SST to keep the station ad-free, similar to what Cal occasionally states in the chat:
** To keep this streaming radio broadcast ad-free, we rely heavily on donations. Please consider a small donation to keep the commercials out. Every dollar helps. **
Having this as an ad in the stream would not only reach the usual SST members and chatters, but also all other listeners. Just one dollar per person would suffice. _________________ "Speak for yourself, Sir. I plan to live forever." Cmdr William T. Riker - ST:Generations |

LOL Finnster! ^_^
I also know someone who's done some sports announcing/radio broadcasting, if you're looking for voice talent. But I most like the suggestion of getting a few composers to record spots for their scores, if that's feasible – that would be wonderful!
Also, it may take a little more editing work to make this kind, but I wouldn't mind more "composer's montage" spots either (such as the one we currently have for Ennio Morricone). There are plenty of composers around now with large enough bodies of work to draw upon for short spots – Williams, Zimmer, Horner, Giacchino, et al. ...IDK how much copyright issues would figure in there, though. |

So the ad that says 'enter contests to win prizes' will be the next to go? _________________ "Speak for yourself, Sir. I plan to live forever." Cmdr William T. Riker - ST:Generations |
