We still have plenty of tickets available up for grabs. So far, we have 5 tickets paid for, 3 on hold as highly likely to come, 5 possible (waiting confirmation), with 7 still available for grabs.
Tickets are $145 at the group rate, and we still need to have at least 16 tickets fully paid for before the 25th of February to qualify for the group discount.
If you would like a ticket, please email me at webmaster@scorereviews.net and send payment via PayPal to the same address.
I have spoken with the Group Services Manager for CSO, and he has informed me that the ticket prices will be the same whether we make the required 16 tickets sold or not, so at this point, the concert is on!
Looking forward to Chicago! _________________ “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

Obviously, I am going to say yes to this, a) because I have never got to see John Williams live, b) there are so many wonderful members here that I have gotten to know over the last 15 years, and it would be nice to put a face to them, and c) it's Chicago, and the last time I was there was to document a protest...it would be nice to actually be able to enjoy the city.
I realize that it may be difficult for some of you to swing it, but if you are able to do it, I would highly recommend it. Good times will be had by all! _________________ “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

We have to remember that JW
is not going to be around forever.
I see this as one of his last and
certainly in the Midwest.
I have my physical situation that
is very limiting BUT having been
at other East Coast events and
the wonderful memories that I
have and the people that I still
want to meet in this area - I
really, really want to see this
happen and for all of us.
I will do my very best to be a
part of this, somehow.
Morg suggestion of Dick's Last
Resort by the water is a great
one. It is not far.
http://www.dickslastresort.com/citypage.cfm?store=chicago
Travelodge is close, as well, to
Symphony Hall AND Dick's.
http://www.travelodgechicago.com/
I think this could work.

Great idea!
I'd be happy to join 2018 SST Meetup in Chicago! And I'm pretty sure there is a chance that we will see more SSTers from Europe going there.
I also second Pete's idea to meet not only at the concert but before or after it too.
Meeting other SSTers is awesome!
It's so awesome that I can easily imagine going to SST Gathering and choosing to skip the concert and I can't imagine attending the concert and skipping the gathering in the city!
Thanks for the idea guys! _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

I would love to go if I have the money. Hopefully, I will be employed by then and not in some piddling poo-fest that pays in peanuts.

Bruiser, I can only speak for myself, but I would be more than happy to chip in to make sure you can make it. I need you to be one of the main events LOL.
Actually, I was thinking, if we do get this going, maybe we can start a travel fund to assist members who may want to come but can't necessarily afford the full cost of the trip. I know I can chip in like $50 a month, which by itself would be $600 towards a travel fund by itself. _________________ “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

I could add $20 a month. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Sweet! So far, just between 2 of us, that would be $840USD in a year. Imagine how much more we could raise for it with other people willing to donate, even if it was just $5 or $10USD a month
I know these days, finances are hard for pretty much everyone everywhere, and I would like to make this event accessible and available to any member who would want to come _________________ “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

I might be able to make it .....
Of course, going out in public means I need to don my human-disguise, so might be a bit wearing to stay for long. Not to mention socially stressful for a paid-up member of Hermits United But meeting you folks would be a lot easier than some encounters.
Any idea yet if the three concerts are actually any different? (I checked the link) _________________ If you can't stand the heat, don't tease a dragon |

I will help where needed.
I may have to choose between
the event itself and being with
you at a gathering and if so,
that would be no choice - I
would choose being with
you, all.
I have seen John many
times. For me, being with
you will be the event, if it
is possible for me.

I like to think I have great organizational skills, but would definitely want someone who has done one of these before to help coordinate LOL. Someone more familiar of how you all like to do things.
Personally, I envision this as not super formal, but more laid back and fluid and organic. I would love to obviously go to at least one of the performances as a group, but aside from that, however it turns out organically, would be wonderful. But that is my personal preferred style.
Others may want something more structured and scheduled, following a stricter itinerary. While I don't have a problem with this myself, I have generally found this method to add a lot more stress, and a lot less enjoyment.
I would love to hear others thoughts on how we would go about doing this, what has worked before, and any new ideas that folks might like to do.
Chicago is a big and beautiful city, with a lot of fun, and interesting things to do and places to see. My last time there was more business than pleasure, do I did not get to play tourist, however while I was covering protests there, I came across a a few of the local hot spots for tourists LOL.
Obviously, if there is anyone who is more familiar with Chicago (PeteC maybe?) they could throw out some suggestions of things we could potentially do while there. _________________ “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

Usually, the events are not so
structured, as it might sound or
appear. Things just happened.
People got together at the loc-
ations and put 'plans' together.
Everyone will have their own
itinerary. It is not going to be
like a tour bus thing.
The 'event' is the concert.
The places will be the hall,
the hotel and the target
restaurant. Those places
are up for discussion.
I did like the Morg's suggestion
of Dick's Last Resort. It is not
far from the general area of
the Hall. The closer it is to
the Hall whichever hotel, the
better, in my opinion. Cheap
is good, too. Not everyone
is going to be on the same
page financially. This is going
to be stretch for some and
most, even. Better to err
on that side of the equation.
Chicago IS cool and if you
can partake of it, you will
not regret it. I have no idea
what is at the museums but
if you can, take advantage
of the opportunities that will
be there for you BUT THE
MOST IMPORTANT THING
IS TO MAKE TIME FOR CON-
NECTING WITH EACH OTHER.
YOU MAY NEVER SEE EACH
OTHER AGAIN IN YOUR EN-
TIRE LIVES. MAKE THIS TIME
WORTH IT.
I did that in NYC at the events
I attended and I am so glad
that I did. I have made life-
long friends because of the
moments I shared there.
Maybe the martinis helped.

Thanks for your enthusiasm
on this, Morg. I appreciate it.
I know you feel it. It is for
the right reasons.

I definitely want to try and make this one. Unlike previous years I'm no longer a student, I'm fully employed and I'm out on my own for the first time ever. I've sat around doing nothing but look after a sick loved one for years, I think it's time I put my passport to some use for something fun (and I've always wanted to meet you all).
It's a ways out, and a lot can change, but it's on my calendar and I'm looking at flights _________________ When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout. |
