Suggestion: Links on composer's birthdays

How about adding links in the birthday module so that composer's names are linked to a search on that Artist? That would make searching for a track for the birthday composers that much easier.

Interesting idea, Grenadier. It could be their official website, a fan page, or Wikipedia.

Oh, I meant a search on StreamingSoundtracks.com on the queue page, but any of those would work too.

I meant something like linking James Horner to http://www.streamingsoundtracks.com/modules.php?name=Requests&postartistsearch=true&artist=James+Horner

I also think that's a great idea. My favorite is the internal artist link, but maybe it's possible to give you a selection?
Requests, Amazon, homepages, whatever?

My knowledge of website programming is precisely zero, so.... *shrugs*

Well, if we wanted more than the internal link, you could always put icons next to the composer's name, with links to Wiki, official sites, IMDB, Amazon, whatever. I was mainly interested in the internal link myself, but I can see where linking out to external sources might be useful too.

Thank you for posting this, Grenadier! I find myself wishing for this very thing whenever I think to look at the birthday composer for requesting. Sure it's only an extra page to load & some typing, but still. lol

I wouldn't need/want it to go to any outside page, just the internal link to search out that composer from the database.

For that matter, much of the external linking suggested has already been done for those who want to explore an artist further � just check out the "Composers" section of the forum. Most major names have a thread devoted to them headed with individual links to IMDb, Wiki, Twitter, official websites, etc. (The master index thread, by Nate, is here: http://www.streamingsoundtracks.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=5552) So I don't think it's really necessary to repeat all that in the birthday announcement box. But an instant-artist-search-by-clicking option would be appreciated! Cool
