|
Hello lovely SSTers! As many of you know, SIN and I are having our wedding in May. It has been a crazy roller coaster ride, and we're starting to get into details like, what should the song be for our first dance?! We're both all
Since SST is the reason we met, we think it'd be perfect to have a song from a soundtrack, but there are so many out there we don't even know where to start. So, if you can spare a few minutes, we would sincerely appreciate any serious suggestions your beautiful minds can think of.
Remember, it has to be danceable, so even though Ice Dance from Edward Scissorhands is gorgeous, it's a bit too slow. Similarly, as awesome as Reel Around the Sun is, there's no way we can dance to that (strangely enough, I did not buy wedding clogs).
Songs can be with or without lyrics, and the only one out of the running so far is Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo, because that is what I'm dancing to with my father
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!

I would say "Stroll through the sky" from Howl's Moving Castle. |

Ooh fun! Here's a couple of my favorites:
The Wings from Brokeback Mountain (It's kinda country twang-y though)
Kisses and Cake from P.S. I Love You
Romantic Flight from How To Train Your Dragon

Z, actually Romantic Flight is what I'm walking down the aisle to! Good taste _________________ The journey of one thousand miles begins with a single step. |

I was thinking of the waltz in "Lust, caution" (even if the movie's title isn't really appropriate...)
Then come "Waltz to the death" from Batman but the name isn't appropriate too...
I think also on the "Cinema paradiso" theme, or "to be by your side" from Winged Migrations, but I don't know if this is danceable.
I'll edit this post with more ideas later _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |

Oh that's going to be so awesome! I got goosebumps thinking about it
edit: I went and listened to it again and got tears. That is going to be so magical and special. _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow. - James Dean |

Bump!
Hi guys, thanks for the suggestions I haven't really gotten around to listening to them all yet, but I will soon. In the meantime, I'd love to get more suggestions! I know there is a hidden gem in there, maybe an obvious one hidden in plain sight!
It's fun to get the SST community involved. Thank you! |

Haha Mojo!
For our first dance, we went with Love of my Life by Queen
The church ceremony is where we ended up having a bit more fun with the music. We had a really good pianist and he played these tracks flawlessly:
Processional (Wedding party walking down the aisle):
La Vie en Rose by Edith Piaf
Bride's march:
Romantic Flight (How to Train Your Dragon) by John Powell
Signatures and lighting of the Unity Candle:
To Zanarkand (Final Fantasy X) by Nobuo Uematsu
Recessional (when we all walk out of the church):
I'll be There for You (Friends theme) by The Rembrandts

Out of curiosity, and you needn't answer, in what kind of church were you married? My Catholic church was, shall we say, NOT in favor of creative music selections. That's what the reception was for, where we danced our first dance to "Heaven Can Wait" (Meat Loaf) and later everyone did the Time Warp, because reasons. We also got hoisted on chairs during "Hava Nagila," which I'm sure in unusual in a wedding where neither party is Jewish. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?
