The BBC is running a "Sound of Cinema" series of radio programs in September that you can listen to via the internet.
See http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01fs3cy for times and links.
There is also a "favorite film music" poll asking people to choose between 20 listed soundtracks. The samples probably won't play for people outside the UK, but I'm sure you can find them here to listen to any you don't know.
