|
Sorry if I am asking the blindingly obvious (won't be the first or last time) but is there any way to go to a certain page in a forum other than clicking 'next'? I've been catching up on stuff that I've missed being away and wanted to go back to the middle of a thread but couldn't see a way to get to page 40 (for example) without going through all of them again. |

The way I know takes advantage of the structure of an address of the page you see in your browser's address window (I hope it's still English I'm talking here...)
For example you go to random long thread with multiple number of pages. When you click any page of that thread you can notice that the last part of internet address of that page is a number.
E.g.: Random page from "Faces behind the post (another borrowed thread idea)":
http://www.streamingsoundtracks.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2547&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30.
...has number 30 at the very end of the address.
Changing that number manually in your browser's address window (and only that number) lets you travel across the thread back and forth.
If you put more than 30 you go up in numbers of page. And if I remember right, going 15 up moves you up the whole page of the thread. You can test it yourself.
So if you want to get to page 80 of the thread, your number at the end of address must be 80x15=1200 i think (or something in that neighborhood)
Maybe there are some other ways too, but I hope it helps for a start _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Why not just clicking on the page numeber on the bottom right? _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Because direct access to page numbers on the bottom right is limited to just some of them. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

This has really helped, molossus, thank you.
And it also works for browsing forum topics. As another example here is the address from page 2 of the General forum:
http://www.streamingsoundtracks.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=1&topicdays=0&start=50
It ends with 50 rather than 15 and these pages move on in increments of 50. So, mathemetically this will be the page number you want -1 x 50.
So change the to 50 for 100 and you get page 3, change 50 for 150 and you get page 4 and so on! |
