Fri Jul 27, 2012 7:06 am Post subject: Morglum needs some help (POSSIBLE SCAM?) |
|
First off, I want to apologize to Morglum for making this public. I don't know if he meant it to be or not, but this is the only way I know how to help him.
Yesterday, I received this pm from Morglum. He said he was stranded and when I asked how, this was his response.
**************
No, stranded because I came to the east coast with a caravan of about 40 other people for a national gathering in philadelphia, and noone boithered to tell us until we were halfway across the country that it was a one way trip. So about 40 of us were left stranded in Philly. I then decided to make the most of it, and march from philly to NYC with about 60 people, which, while I was on the march, someone thought it would be a good idea to steal my HIV meds from my bag. So, all the money I had to get back home went to replacing my meds
The rest of the money I had was enough to get me a ticket as far as Nashville, TN.
Been trying to raise enough in donation via my donations page at wepay (http://wepay.com/donations/codeframesf) but have not raised enough to get a ticket from nashville yet. I'm still taking donations, if you know anyone who might be able to help out. I'm still about $100 short of being able to get a ticket.
**************
If anyone can help him get home...please do and thanks!

I do not trust this for one bit to be honest. Morglum is a very old member, and suddenly he asks a nice lady like Maddy to give money? |

Yeah, Cal. You could be right...but I hope not. That would show just how gullible I am!
When I hear someone is in trouble, I try to find a way to help them, even if I can't. I was curious why he chose to PM me and not someone else. And why the people he went with didn't try to find a way to help him out.
But whatever the reason, he sounded like he needed help. I know Morglum has been with SST for about the same amount of time as I have. That's why I trusted him. I don't know what else to say. _________________ It's hard to soar with dragons when you work with gargoyles!

Just something I just noticed... an 'old-time' member named Morglum just posted his good wishes for Istagi's wife. (June 27, 5:47pm).
I don't think I've ever encountered him (which means nothing) but in that post he didn't even hint at anything being wrong.
Don't know if that means anything (maybe didn't think it would've been appropriate), I just thought I'd mention seeing his name pop up.
I guess this post is useless. Just trying to be helpful, even if it *is* useless. _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."

If it is all true I am sorry, but it does not sounds believable.
I have some questions that rises here
How come nobody knew it was only a one way trip?
And what about his own family and friends he know in person can they give/lent him the $100 he is short?
I suppose he reported the med theft to the police. And when he needs these meds is there not some kind of insurance for that?
And if he really need that money why only send maddy a PM with note "if you know anyone who might be able to help out" or did anyone else received the same message from him. I am sure there are more members who know him. _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Don't worry about it being a waste of forum time maddy. It's good you told others about it because either 1. he really was in trouble and we could have helped or 2. it really was a scam and the rest of us needed to know in case he contacted us too.
I've been seeing him in chat recently so I may have believed he was in trouble too.
I hope if he was in trouble that he has been able to get it figured out! _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow. - James Dean |
